The Packer swimming and diving team had a big day at the Section 1A meet as seven athletes qualified for state in a total of nine different events in Inver Grove Heights Saturday.

Austin sophomore Craig Heimark qualified for state in the 100-yard and 200-yard freestyles, senior Alec Anderson advanced to state in diving, junior Sawyer Myers advanced to state in the 200-yard individual medley and the 500-yard freestyle, sophomore Ben Walker advanced to state in the 100-yard butterfly and eighth grader Isaac Christopherson advanced to state in the 500-yard freestyle.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Heimark, Seth Clasen, Meyers and Ian Christopherson qualified for state and so did the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Heimark, Isaac Christopherson, Myers and Ian Christopherson.

Austin coach Michelle Hammero was named Section 1A Assistant Coach of the Year.

The Packers finished fourth out of teams with a score of 216. Saint Thomas Academy won the meet with a 552.
