The Paramount Movie Series returns to the Paramount Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Thursday with a showing of “Ziegfeld Girl.”
The Paramount operated as a movie theater from 1929 to 1975. As part of the theater’s 85th anniversary, Paramount officials plan to show a movie from every decade the Paramount was open. The plan is to show movies that played at the Paramount.
“Ziegfeld Girl” was released in 1941 and tells the story of three women with showbiz aspirations hoping to attain the title of “Ziegfeld Girl.” It stars James Steward, Judy Garland, Hedy Lamarr and Lana Turner.
The film series debuted last month with a showing of the 1934 film “Cleopatra.”
Next up, the Paramount will dance into the 1950s when it shows “An American in Paris” on March 20.
In September, the Paramount is planning a movie fundraising event in conjunction with the anniversary. Tickets for the movies are $5.
