Two students recently won a T-shirt design contest for the Austin Public Schools District Spelling Bee. The winning design for the front was Ameri Garcia’s honeycomb theme, while the winning design for the back was awarded to Sarah Bachmeier’s theme around the Benjamin Franklin quote, “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.”

The winning T-shirt designs will be worn by spelling bee participants at the district bee on Jan. 21. In addition, the top five T-shirt design finalists will get the chance to compete in a friendly spell-off against their advisory teachers, the principal Mr. Senne, the assistant principal Mr. Rezny, and administrative assistant Mrs. Humphress as part of a PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies) celebration at the school on Jan. 17.
