The Austin Public Schools Board re-elected Greg Larson as its 2014 chairman during a special meeting Monday inside the district’s conference room in Austin High School.
Larson, who served as chairman in 2013, is the first school board member in several years to be re-elected to the position.
“I’m honored,” he said. “They told me they thought I was doing a good job and wanted me to continue it.”
Angie Goetz replaced Don Leathers as the board’s new vice-chairwoman, while Leathers was elected the treasurer. Mary Jane Kestner is the board’s new clerk.
The board also designated the Austin Daily Herald as its official newspaper for 2014, which means the Herald will print all of the district’s legal notices.
The board’s next meeting takes place at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, inside the City Council Chambers at Austin’s city hall.
