Mavis A. Sheridan, a 17-year resident of Ingleside, Ill.,formerly of Highwood, Ill., passed away peacefully on Jan. 21, 2014.
She was born on Oct. 3, 1929, in Harmony, Minn., to Theodore and Leona (nee Johnson) Opsahl.
Mavis loved to garden, travel and was an avid Cubs fan. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially on their boat. Mavis also loved her cats.
Mavis will be deeply missed by her loving companion of 40 years, William Zebbesson; her children, Angela (John) Zajac, of Batavia, Ill.; and Daniel Dawes, of Texas; her grandchildren, Anthony G. (Amy) Markos, Amy L., Kimberley R., Sarah M. and John T. Zajac, Colleen J. (Jeff Foster) Dawes and CeCe Gilbert; her great-grandchildren, Jossee, Paige, Olivia, Max, Kyle and Carson; her great-great granddaughter, Addison; her siblings, John (Verlane) Opsahl, Judith (David) Johnson and Victoria (Merril) Sparks. Many loving nieces, nephews and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her son, William Dawes; her granddaughter, Melissa B. Markos, her siblings, Curtis, Nancy, Patricia and Levone and by her parents.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, and from 8:30 a.m. to the 10 a.m. funeral service Saturday at the K. K. Hamsher Funeral Home, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd. Fox Lake. Interment will be at Oakridge Glen Oaks Cemetery, Hillside.
