Get to know: Austin senior swimmer Ian Christopherson

Q: How did you originally get into your sport?
A: I was in fifth grade and my swimming instructor told me I should join the YMCA swim team. So I did. I learned to love the sport and I decided to stick with it.
Q: What’s your favorite sports memory?
A: Standing on the medal stand at the state swim meet with my relay team.
Q: What have you learned from sports?
A: I have learned to set goals and keep pushing myself to reach these goals.
Q: What is the hardest part about your sport?
A: The hardest part is telling myself to keep pushing the last few laps of a swim. You’re mind goes crazy and screams ‘I can’t,’ but you manage to keep pushing.
Q: Who is your biggest sports role model and why?
A: Ryan Lochte. He pushes himself and keeps working despite standing in Michael Phelps’ shadow.
Q: What is your favorite movie or TV show?
A: My favorite movie is probably Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
Q: What is your favorite subject in school?
A: Government.
Q: What is your dream job?
A: I would love to play guitar in a famous band, but if that fails, something in the computer science field.
Q: What is your favorite food?
A: Pizza.
