It’s caucus time.

Local Democrats and Republicans are getting ready as precinct caucuses begin around Minnesota next month.

The Mower County GOP’s caucus will take place at three locations starting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4. The Mower County Senior Citizens Center, LeRoy Community Center and Racine City Hall will all host the GOP caucus for Mower County residents.

The Mower County DFL’s caucus will take place at the El Parral Ballroom at the same time Tuesday.

Precinct caucuses are open to the public but in order to vote, offer resolutions or become a delegate, attendees must be eligible to vote in the next general election, live in the precinct and be in general agreement with the party. Resolutions that are passed will have the chance to go on to higher caucuses and conventions. In addition, delegates are elected for county and district caucuses. Precinct officers will also be elected to organize activities.
