Ingvalson

He was born Aug. 15, 1919, in Udolpho Township to Emil and Clara (Lampland) Ingvalson. Art was a lifelong Blooming Prairie resident and graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in 1937. He farmed with his family until he married Florence L. Hjelmen on Dec. 26, 1948, at the First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie. After their marriage, the couple started to farm north of Blooming Prairie until Art’s retirement. To this union two children were born. Art was very active in his community; he was on the Creamery Board, Elevator Board, Pork Producer’s Board, First Lutheran Church Council, Lions Club, Prairie Manor Board, Blooming Prairie Township Board and Clerk and was a member of Sons of Norway. He enjoyed genealogy, history, woodworking, baseball, tractors, working in his shop and all things Norwegian. Art’s life was defined by how carefully he tended his faith, his family and his community.

Art is survived by his daughter, Janis (Gary) Lueth, and his son, Jerald (Carol) Ingvalson, both of Blooming Prairie; six grandchildren, Kristin (Cord Koening), Kari, Kassie, Mike (Katie), Jeff and Craig (Rebecca); two great-grandchildren, Carsten and Brayton; and many wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Florence, in 2002; and five brothers, Elsworth, Maurice, Donald, Reuben, and Lawrence..

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie with Pastor Charles Leonard and Pastor Heidi Heimgartner officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday evening and one hour prior to the service at the church.
