Welcome to the party, Mower County.

After looking to be on the fringes of a widespread winter storm, a winter weather advisory has been issued for Mower County through noon today.

But it’s not for snow. The National Weather Service forecast still calls for most of the snow to miss the Austin area. However, freezing drizzle is expected to move through the area, dropping about a tenth of an inch of icy rain. The weather service reported some roads have become ice covered, making for difficult travel.

Much of the rest of the state is seeing heavy snowfall, and 26 inches was reported in Two Harbors as of last night. Anywhere from 1 to 6 inches is expected to fall by the end of today across the Twin Cities.

However, the weather service is calling for little snow accumulation in the Austin area.
