Duplicate Bridge

Tournament results for Dec. 11 with four tables played: first-place tie, Gene Domino and Rick Stroup, and Bud Higgins and Arnie Lang; third, Orrion Roisen and Dave Ring. A Duplicate Bridge Christmas party was held at 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 18 at the Senior Center.

Duplicate Bridge is played each Wednesday at noon at the Mower County Senior Center in Austin. All Bridge players are welcome. Call Dave Ring at 507-434-4189 for partnership assistance or additional information.

 Y’s Women

The Y’s Women Christmas party was held Dec. 12 at the Hormel Historic Home.  Members enjoyed a delicious potluck supper around festive decorated tables.  Shirley Cahill’s group, the Golden Oldies also joined for the meal. They delighted guests with Christmas carols and infused a joyous spirit.

A short business meeting was conducted by Carol Lembrick. Evie Mohrfeld read the secretary’s report and Anita Ulwelling the treasurer’s report.

Hostesses were: Sue Apold, Marlene Fox and Donna Maas.

A donation was given to the Hy-Vee Feed A Family program.

Members will meet at 1 p.m. Jan. 9 at the Humane Society for a tour with Barry Rush.

 Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary

The DAV Auxiliary 27 of Austin would like to thank many people who helped get things needed to our Minnesota veterans’ homes and VA Hospital.

A special thanks to K-5th grades, which made Christmas cards, to Hy-Vee, Target, Austin Dental, Main Street Dental, and many of our members and friends.

The veterans appreciate it very much, as we do. Thank you!

 Apold Music Christmas Recital

The Apold Music’s Christmas Recital was held Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013. Thank you to all of the students for performing at the event:
