Genevieve Friedrich, 93

Genevieve Friedrich, 93, of Austin, Minn., died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at The Cedars of Austin.  Genevieve Wilhelmina Gartner was born Feb. 10, 1920, in Windom, Minnesota to George and Eva (Weber) Gartner. She attended school in Windom. On Aug. 15, 1946, Genevieve was united in marriage to John Benjamin Friedrich in Austin. The couple made their home in Austin, where Genevieve worked at Hormel for five years. They belonged to First United Methodist Church. John passed away March 7, 2009. Genevieve loved to dance, crochet, and do crafts.

Genevieve is survived by her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, William ‘Willie’ Friedrich and Edna (Roger) Ludwig, all of Austin, Albert (Alice) Friedrich, of Williamsburg, Va., Rosella Friedrich of Fort Collins, Colo.; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents George and Eva Gartner, her husband John Friedrich, and her sister Mary Ann Brown.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with Pastor Marilee Benson of First United Methodist Church officiating.  Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service.
