Ione Ruby Hedrick, 77

Ione Ruby Hedrick, 77, of Austin, Minn., passed away peacefully Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, at her home. She was born on April 7, 1936, in Austin to Emil F. and Ruby F. (Nelson) Peterson. A lifelong southern Minnesota resident, Ione graduated from Austin High School, was married and later divorced. As a homemaker, Ione enjoyed cooking, baking wedding cakes for her friends and family, watching NASCAR and westerns and reading nonfiction books. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and taking care of her cats.

Survivors include her children, Kelly Pramann, LeVerne Michael Altenburg Sr., of Austin; SueAnn Holland, of Lafayette, Colo.; Steven Charles Hedrick, of Faribault, Minn.; and Kathy Hedrick, of Austin, Minn.; nine grandchildren, Melany, Melissa, Andrew, LeVerne Jr., Tahja, Ashley, Layne, Dwight and Katie; seven great-grandchildren. Her siblings include Niles (Marg) Peterson, of North Carolina; Louise (Paul) Munson, of Rosemont, Minn., Jerry (Gail) Peterson, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and wonderful friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Roger Peterson, a grandson, Kiley, and infant son, Michael.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin. Visitation will be held noon to 1 p.m. Memorials are preferred to the family. Worlein Funeral Home of Austin is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com.
