Elmer Edward Lee, 88, of Austin, Minn. died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, at his home.
Elmer was born July 10, 1925, to Edwin and Elsie (Hightshoe) Lee. He attended school in Owatonna, Minn.
On June 14, 1947, he married Dorothy Bender in Austin. She preceded him in death on Dec. 17, 1977. On Feb. 14, 1981, he married Phyllis Bender at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin.
Elmer worked on the Milwaukee Railroad and then Hormel for 40 years. He was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church.
Elmer enjoyed dancing, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, fixing cars and welding. He especially enjoyed his lake home at Madison Lake, Minn.
Elmer was a member of the Austin Eagles, American Legion and Moose Club.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Lee, of Austin; daughters, Judy (Donald) Jacobsen, of Austin; Sheila Blacketer, of Rochester, Minn.; Shirley (Richard) Nelson, of Austin; Joyce (James) Flink, of Albert Lea, Minn.; sons, Edwin (Judy) Lee, of Bixby Minn.; Dale (Julie) Lee, of Madison Lake; Dennis Lee, of Waseca, Minn.; David (Brenda) Lee, of Waseca; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard (Ida May) Lee, of Austin; Virgil (Nancy) Lee, of Bloomington, Minn.; sisters, Evelyn (Marvin) Durben, of Bloomington; Vera Armbrust (sp. Friend, Richard Schumacher), of Austin. In addition to his first wife, he is preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Elsie Lee; sisters, Lucille Lee and Rose Durben; granddaughter, Michelle Majewski.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Rev. Kristi Koppel officiating. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Mayer Funeral Home and also one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery.
