Edith Helen Hansen, 85, of Austin, Minn., died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, at the Adams Health Care Center.

Edith was born on May 4, 1928, at Askov, Minn., the daughter of S. Ove and Helga (Jacobsen) Hermansen. She graduated from Askov High School and in 1946, Edith married LaVerne Hansen. To that union three children were born, Cheryl, Darren and Larry.

In 1951, they moved to Austin where Edith worked for the Weyerhaeuser Company for 33 years, retiring in 1990. In her spare time, Edith enjoyed reading, crocheting, knitting and cross-stitching.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Lois.

Edith is survived by LaVerne Hansen, of Austin, Minn.; daughter and son-in-law: Cheryl and Roger Miller, of Shoreview, Minn.; sons and daughter-in-law, Darren and Marna Hansen, of Des Moines, Iowa, Larry Hansen, of Stillwater, Minn.; grandchildren: Zachary (Shelly) Hansen, of Denver, Colo., Robyn Hansen, of Rochester, Minn.; step-grandson, Lucas Miller; step great-grandsons, Emmett and Samuel Miller; brother, Richard Hermansen, of Askov, Minn.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Glenn L. Monson officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Clasen-Jordan Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
