Mower County’s history buffs are ready for Christmas.
The annual Christmas in the County will begin Friday, Dec. 13, with a pre-sale bake sale from 3 to 6 p.m.
On Saturday, there’s more fun with outdoor and indoor activities, including the continuing bake sale. Admission is free but donations are accepted.
Saturday’s activities will include sleigh and wagon rides around the fairgrounds, an inside view of the 1004 steam engine and blow the whistle, Christmas decorations on display, craft activities and more. Homemade chili and hot dogs will be for sale.
Visitors can buy raffle tickets to win one of 19 prizes including a homemade star-stretched quilt, matching pillows, gift certificates for the Holiday Inn, a $50 Visa gift card from Accentra Credit Union, a painting and more. Tickets are $1 each. Raffle winners will be drawn at 6 p.m. Saturday. They can be purchased at the Historical Society office or from volunteers. A silent auction will include even more; bids can be placed at 6:45 p.m.
In case of inclement weather, the pre-dale bake sale will run as scheduled. Saturday activities will be moved to Dec. 15.
