MINNEAPOLIS — A second teenager is charged in a clubbing attack that sent a former Minneapolis mayoral candidate to the hospital.
The Hennepin County Attorney’s office says the 17-year-old Minneapolis girl was charged by juvenile petition with aggravated robbery and assault. After a court appearance Monday, she is on electronic home monitoring. Prosecutors want to certify her as an adult.
Former Hennepin County Commissioner Mark Andrew was at a coffee shop at the Mall of America Thursday when a young man grabbed Andrew’s phone and ran. Andrew chased him, but two young women blocked him at the door.
Eighteen-year-old Letaija Cutler-Cain of Brooklyn Park is accused of jumping on Andrew’s back while the 17-year-old girl struck him on the head with a metal baton.
Bail for Cutler-Cain is set at $50,000.
