Steven Lunning, 63, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Steven Lunning, 63, of Albert Lea, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Grace Lutheran Church. The Rev. Jeff Laeger-Hagemeister will officiate. Interment will be in Lakewood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Online condolences are welcome at www.bayviewfuneral.com.

Steven died on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2013, at St. John’s Lutheran Community.

Steven Robert Lunning was born on June 25, 1950, in Albert Lea, the son of Clayton and M. Elizabeth (Hanson) Lunning. Steven grew up and went to elementary school in Clarks Grove. He graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1968. On Sept. 26, 1970, Steven was united in marriage to Vicki Malimanek at St. Theodore Catholic Church. Steve served his country in the Minnesota Army National Guard. He worked at Wilson & Co. and Farmstead for many years. Steve then went on to do the job that came most natural to him – carpentry. His passion became Albert Lea High School sports. He rarely missed the chance to attend a Tiger football, basketball or baseball game regardless of his health. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, the Eagles and the Elks Lodge. Steven enjoyed spending time with his friends and his family.

Survivors include his wife, Vicki; children Jennifer (Craig Helgeson) Lunning and Joshua (Katie Malszycki) Lunning; grandchildren Makael, Ethan and Adeline Lunning; sisters Barb Wright, Judy (Bill) Myers and Jean Bergo; brother, Craig (Myrna) Lunning; in-laws Mike (Laurie) Malimanek, Suzanne (David) Srp, Tim (Venus) Malimanek, Pat (Sharon Kampa) Malimanek, Scott (Brenda) Malimanek and Cindy (Bob) Lunning-Armon; and several nieces and nephews.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents Clayton and Elizabeth Lunning; his in-laws Leonard and Jeanne Malimanek; brother, Richard Lunning; and brothers-in-law Jack Wright, Larry Bergo and Mark Malimanek.
