Norma M. Schoeneck, 92

Norma M. Schoeneck, 92, of Austin, Minn., died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, at the Adams Health Care Center, Adams, Minn.

Norma Maxine was born Sept. 29, 1921, in Austin. She was the daughter of Maude (Austin) and Norman Saterbo, and graduated from Austin High School in 1939. Norma worked in the Hormel office from 1939 until 1953. On June 1, 1946, she married Wayne Schoeneck.

Norma was a lifelong member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Over the years, she helped in the church nursery, led youth fellowship, and served as a deacon for many years. She belonged to Chapter, and was a member of circle helping serve at many weddings and funerals. Norma was an avid volunteer. She was an assistant leader of Brownie and Girl Scout troops. She served on the YWCA board and was a member of Y Matrons. She delivered meals on wheels for many years. Norma volunteered for the Comforcare Auxiliary helping with bake and craft sales and weekly bingo. For more than 35 years, Norma volunteered with the Mower County Red Cross recruiting typists for the Bloodmobile each time it was in Austin. In 2008, after a lifetime of volunteering, Norma moved to the Cedars where staff and residents enjoyed her friendliness, pleasant manner, hospitality, and smile.

Norma was known for her coffee cup collection and love of shoes and purses. She enjoyed needlepoint, counted cross stitch, and knitting. She enjoyed travel and took many bus trips with the ‘Y’ and later the senior center.

Survivors include daughter Susan and husband Dr. Brian Wolf, grandsons Andrew and Brandon and great-grandson Isaac, all of Kenosha, Wis.; son Wayne of Minneapolis; sister and brother-in-law Mary and Larry Cole of Austin; cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sister Viola Bergland, sister Lila Woelfel, and brother Richard Saterbo.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 18, at Westminster Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Michael Olmsted officiating. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery.  Visitation will be at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. and at the church Monday morning for one hour before the service.

Soloists will be Cassie and Pete Walker, organist will be Darlene Berhow.

Casket bearers will be Wayne Schoeneck, Brian Wolf, Andrew Wolf, Brandon Wolf, cousin Don Austin and friend Len Edwards.
