Delores M. “Dee” Heimsness, 91, of Austin died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013, at Comforcare Good Samaritan Center.

Delores Mae Wilson was born April 29, 1922, in Wessington Springs, S.D., to George and Mabel O. (Hanson) Wilson. A 1940 graduate of Austin High School, Dee worked as a bookkeeper at Gildner’s Clothing Store. On June 4, 1947, she married Arnold “Ray” Heimsness in Austin. The couple raised five children. Ray passed away Oct. 25, 2010.  Following their marriage, Dee was a homemaker, as well as the bookkeeper for Heimsness Masonry. She enjoyed bingo and was a great cook. Dee canned vegetables, and made great dill pickles. She was like a mom and grandma to many. Her family was a source of special joy in her life.

Survivors include her brother, Fred (June) Wilson of Woodbury; three sons, Raymond (Cecilia) Heimsness of Taylorville, Ill.;  Julian (Barbara) Heimsness of Huntsville, Ala.;  Terry (Mary Ann) Heimsness of Austin; two daughters, Vickie Mollberg of Baudette, Susan (Robert) Petersen of Austin; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and 27 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray Heimsness; five brothers, Curtis, Willie, Doug, Kenny and Ralph Wilson; two sisters, Eva Shatek and Joyce Sloan; and two grandchildren, Jullian Vincent Heimsness II and Bart Robert Heimsness.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin with Todd Portinga, A.I.M., officiating. Visitation will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery.
