The Mower County Board of Commissioners approved a modified lease agreement with the Austin Daily Herald over the Herald’s south parking lot during the board’s public meeting Tuesday.

The original 20-year lease was changed to a five-year lease followed by another automatic five-year lease.

The county sought to lease the Herald parking lot earlier this year to accommodate county health and human services workers, as the department moved back to the Government Center several weeks ago. Oscarson said the county would be able to work on the parking lot once the board approves the agreement.
