Former Mower County assistant attorney replaces Judge Joseph Wieners

Gov. Mark Dayton appointed a former Mower County assistant county attorney to serve as the new district court judge in the Third Judicial District in Olmsted County.

Kathy M. Wallace will replace Judge Joseph F. Wieners, who retired earlier this year.

“I am pleased to appoint Ms. Kathy Wallace to serve the Third Judicial District as District Court Judge,” Dayton said. “Ms. Wallace’s extensive experience in complex legal matters, her knowledge of the courts, and her exemplary work on behalf of children and families make her uniquely qualified to take on the responsibilities of this important role.”

Wallace earned her B.A. with honors from Hamline University and her J.D. with honors from the William Mitchell College of Law.

Wallace is also the co-chair of the Mayo Child and Family Advocacy Center Program Operations Committee and a Whitewater Country Coalition member. She lives with her family in Chatfield.
