Show to feature young piano talent

The Harris Piano Competition, sponsored by the Hormel Historic Home, will be held on Saturday, Nov. 2.
The day will include private, morning competitions at three sites: HHH, Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and The Historic Paramount Theatre.
Forty-one Youth ranging from ages 6 to 18 will be judged by professionals from outside the Austin area.
The afternoon portion of the event is free and open to the public. Beginning at 3:30 p.m., Dr. Andrew Hisey, professor at University of St. Thomas, will perform and speak about his musical career.
The top two ranked contestants in the four age categories will then compete for top honors. The judges for this portion include Hisey and MarySue Hormel Harris.
Harris will also perform during the event and speak about her passion for music and the arts. She is the great-grand-neice of George Hormel and a major contributor to the Hormel Historic Home.
A prize pool of $2,000 will be awarded at the conclusion of the event.
