Larry and Sharon Larson of Sargeant were among more than 35 Farm Bureau members across Minnesota who met with members of Congress in Washington last month during the Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation Farmers to Washington trip.
Larry serves as the District 1 director on the MFBF Board of Directors.
Farm Bureau members met with American Farm Bureau Federation staff and received a briefing on current issues. Attendees also toured the U.S. Capitol, participated in the U.S. Department of Agriculture market lock-up and took a night tour of the national monuments.
Participants met with Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken members of Congress Collin Peterson, Tim Walz and Erik Paulsen; and staff members from the offices of John Kline, Michele Bachmann, Rick Nolan, Betty McCollum and Keith Ellison.
During their meetings, Farm Bureau members emphasized the need for immediate action on the farm bill, agriculture labor reform and waterway transportation improvements. Trip attendees included county and state Farm Bureau leaders, a representative of the top county Young Farmers and Ranchers program in Minnesota, state YF&R committee members and YF&R contest participants.
