Robert W. Thompson, 72, formerly of Austin, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, after a battle with diabetes and heart disease.

Robert Wayne Thompson was born April 5, 1941, to Howard and Cleo Thompson in Adams, Minn. He married Charlene Lukes on Jan. 7, 1961. The couple were blessed with three daughters and a son. He was employed by Hormel Foods Corp., and later owned and operated a lawn service in Albert Lea.

The last several years, he resided in Tucson, Ariz., where he married and retired.

Robert is survived by his wife, Barbara, of Arizona; daughters Lisa (David) Williamson, LaNette (Chris) Christianson, Austin; Lori (Rick) Weiner, Ohio; and son Lynn (Kathy) Thompson, of Austin; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Beverly and Harold Clampitt, Texas; and Barb Hershey, of South Carolina.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents.

Private family services will be held in Adams, where he will be laid to rest alongside his parents.
