I am a senior citizen who is a graduate of Austin Public Schools. Our two children are also graduates of Austin Public Schools. They have used the good education they received in Austin as the foundation for their successful careers.

I believe Austin has a quality school system and deserves to be financed. I’m urging others of my generation, as well as those much younger, to support the Nov. 5 referendum ballot by voting “yes.”

We don’t have to be concerned that our school levy taxes will go up as a result of a “yes” vote. They will actually go down, but we will continue to provide important funding for our fine school system.

Please, let’s get out the “yes” vote on Nov. 5.
