While surrounded by her loving family at the farm, her journey home was complete when she died on Saturday evening, Oct. 12, 2013.

Helen Arlene Allison was born on March 28, 1933, to Palmer S. and Myrtle T. (Kvale) Brackey in Leland, Iowa. She was baptized at Winnebago Lutheran Church in Leland and confirmed at North Prairie Lutheran Church in Scarville, Iowa. Helen attended school in Kiester and graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1950. On March 2, 1952, Helen was united in marriage to Kent Johns Allison at North Prairie Lutheran Church in Scarville. She was a faithful member of Round Prairie Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Tabitha circle, ladies aid, a Sunday school teacher and the director and active member of the choir and bell chime choir. She was instrumental in initiating a prayer group that met frequently in her home. She worked at Benson Optical in Albert Lea for a short number of years. This was followed by a life of working alongside Kent on the farm and raising their four children. She loved her family and friends. She also had a love for the scriptures, music, sewing and tending to her gardens. She was a member of the Glenville Area Women of Today and the honorary speaker for the 2012 Freeborn County Relay for Life. Her faith in God kept her strong and gave her the strength to fight. Her 28-year journey with cancer has allowed her to be a true inspiration and role model to others.
