The Austin City Council will discuss flood issues, annexation and more at its upcoming meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday inside the City Council Chambers.
Council members will review the 2013 Floodplain Progress Report & Management Plan, largely an update on the city’s flood mitigation efforts this year, during the public meeting. The council will also likely approve a contract with design consultants Short Elliott Hendrickson Inc. for work on the North Main Flood Control Project, which would not exceed $171,000 for Phase 3 of the project and $101,000 for several other phases. The design consultant was hired by the city earlier this year to help design the mitigation project.
In addition, the council will hear an update on efforts to annex 28 homes northwest of Austin. A majority of homeowners in the area, known as Turtle Creek 1 inside Austin Township, approached the city earlier this year seeking annexation for water and sewer access. The annexation would cover about 100 acres.
