WILLMAR — A grand jury has indicted two teens on first-degree murder charges in the strangulation and stabbing death of one of the male’s grandmother in central Minnesota.
The indictments are filed in Kandiyohi (kan-dee-YOH’-heye) County against 19-year-old Brok Junkermeier and 17-year-old Robert Warwick. Both are being held on unconditional bond of $2 million.
The indictment says Warwick is the mastermind of a plan to rob and kill his 79-year-old grandmother, Lila Warwick last July at her home east of Willmar. Court documents say the teen believed his grandmother had a safe in her home containing more than $40,000.
The grandmother’s body was found by law enforcement officers checking on her welfare after she missed a meeting at Redeemer Lutheran Church, where she was a volunteer.
