Semcac Senior Dining announced its plans to move from the Mower County Senior Center, effective on Sept. 5. An alternate serving site will be announced later this month.

“It was never our intent to discontinue our service in Austin,” Debbie Betthauser, Semcac Senior Services Director, said in a press release. “Our intent is only to relocate from the Senior Center.”

Betthauser declined to comment on why Semcac is moving from the senior center.

Semcac serves meals to senior citizens at Twin Towers, Pickett Place, and the Mower County Senior Center. Meals are served Mondays through Fridays at the three Austin locations and dining sites in Lyle and Grand Meadow, as well.  Meals are served between 11 a.m. and noon.  Reservations are made by calling Dee Ann, at 507-433-3120. Anyone 60 years of age, or the spouse of someone 60 years of age, is invited.  Donations for the meal are accepted.

With the move from the Senior Center, there should be no interruption in service.  More information on the new dining site will follow.
