The second annual Austin ArtWorks Festival appears to have been a smashing success, and we would like to congratulate everyone involved for their efforts.
Officials say more than 6,500 people attended the art festival at the downtown utilities plant, and 1,100 more attended the concert Saturday featuring Cloud Cult and Martin Zellar and the Hardways. Adding to the excitement was Pacelli’s 100th anniversary celebration, with countless alum back in town for the festivities.
The festival also served as a statement for the amount of local artistic talent: more than 100 artists with Austin ties participated, which includes the two headlining music acts.
Officials are considering adding regional artists next year and expanding festival next year, which can only be a good thing.
This weekend’s festival was a perfect opportunity to find some great entertainment without leaving town, and we hope anyone who didn’t attend, and everyone who did, marks the weekend on their 2014 calendars. In the meantime, we encourage organizers to keep up the good work.
