A group of motorcycle riders who are part of a 48-state mission to help combat-wounded veterans will be in Albert Lea on Aug. 26 and 27.
The 2013 Nation of Patriots motorcycle tour, which is carrying the flag across America, will reach Bergdale Harley Davidson in Albert Lea at about noon on Monday, Aug. 26. The flag will be escorted from Eden Prairie, Minn. From Albert Lea, it will depart at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 27 for Waukon, Iowa, and pass through Austin, Spring Valley, Preston and Cresco, Iowa.
Those who would like to join the group on Tuesday can sign up at Bergdale Harley starting at 8 a.m. and submit a $5 donation to the cause. The money goes toward wounded veterans who are struggling to pay bills. Locally, last year’s ride helped southeastern Minnesota native Ronnie Moats, who was injured from a roadside bomb during a bomb-sweeping mission.
Donors raised $1,575 for Moats and presented a check to him last November.
The Albert Lea chapter of the Harley Owner’s Group is organizing the event locally, and those who would like to attend Monday are welcome. Others who would like to join Tuesday’s ride, regardless of motorcycle or vehicle, may do so.
