Charles Enoch Reid, 89, passed away on Aug. 2, 2013, at The Cedars Assisted Living in Austin, Minn.

Charles Enoch Reid was born on Feb. 26, 1924, the son of Thomas and Helen (Stewart) Reid in Dickens, Iowa. He attended schools in Lake Center, Iowa. He was united in marriage to A. Lowene Rodenborg on June 3, 1945, in Spencer, Iowa. Charles farmed in Ayrshire, Iowa, and moved to Sargeant, Minn., in 1951, retiring in 1989. He also worked in the ASCS Office, was past president of the Sargeant Township Board, and past president of the PTA at the Hayfield High School. Charles was a Mason. He enjoyed genealogy, history, softball and tractors.

Charles is survived by his children, Gregory (Lora) Reid, Rochester, Minn., Stewart (Vicki) Reid, Waltham, Thomas Reid, Sargeant, Mary (Steve) Booher, Austin, Ruth (Jerry) Anderson, Prairie du Chien, Wis., Holly Reid, Austin; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, A. Lowene; and one infant daughter, Laurel Lowene Reid.

The funeral service for Charles Enoch Reid will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, at the Zion United Methodist Church, 201 E. Main St. in Sargeant with the Rev. Sharon Goetzinger officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013, at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home in Hayfield, and one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday.
