Betty Irvine, 88, Owatonna

Betty A. Irvine, 88, of Owatonna, formerly of Amboy, died on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, at Homestead Hospice House.

She was born Dec. 22, 1924, in Truman, the daughter of Carl and Ann (Marienau) Wohlrabe. She graduated from Amboy High School in 1942 and was then united in marriage to Durward Irvine on Feb. 21, 1943, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Amboy. The couple lived in the Amboy area where they farmed. Together they spent winters in Florida. Durward died July 5, 1994, and Betty moved to St. Peter, later moving to Owatonna in 1998. She was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and was also active in the Altar Guild.

She is survived by daughter, Rosanne (Todd) Hohenstein of Owatonna; son, Larry (and Janice) Irvine of Albert Lea; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Durward Irvine; daughter, Carol Brown; two sisters, Verdeen Keith and Elaine Deleski; and one brother, Charles Wohlrabe.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Amboy with the Rev. Rudolph Maurer officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Amboy. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society or St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Amboy. Michaelson Funeral Home of Owatonna is handling arrangements.
