Austin Stars 10A baseball team finishes strong

The Austin Stars 10A baseball team recently finished up a solid summer by taking fourth place out of 28 teams at the Gopher State tournament in Rogers Minnesota.

The Stars finished the season 24-7 overall and they played in every championship round in every tournament they competed in. In pool play, the team was 17-1 with four shutouts.

“This was the first season of pitching and the team really came out with a lot of confidence and a potential weakness became a team strength along with great defense,” Stars head coach Jeff Hovland said.

Austin finished fifth out of 48 teams at the MBT state tournament, it took second in the Austin Stars Classic, was third in the Rochester Challenge, it won the Farmington Tiger Classic and austin finished second in the St. Croix Challenge.
