The Austin Police Department is getting interest in its security cameras, scheduled to go up near Mill Pond this fall.

Police Chief Brian Krueger said the city will likely install the cameras this fall after working with the Austin Public Library to find out whether they would like more cameras.

In addition, Krueger said the police department is working out logistics issues with the digital feed from the cameras.

Yet police could expand the security camera program, as several downtown businesses have approached law enforcement about putting up more cameras in the area.
