A memorial mass will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2013, Sacred Heart Oratory in Meyer, Iowa.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 22, 2013, also at Sacred Heart Oratory for friends and family.

Kenneth, son of Cecilia (Klinkhammer) and Alfred Hackenmiller, was born Dec. 20, 1943, in Osage, Iowa. He grew up in the area and graduated from Visitation High School in 1962. Kenneth served in the Army from 1964 to 1966 and was stationed near Frankfurt, Germany, until his honorable discharge from service. He spent many years on the family farm and in 1973 moved to Rochester, Minn., to begin a long career in the flooring installation trade. A transition in 1987 to Rochester Community and Technical College marked the start of 20 years of service at the college until his retirement in 2007.

His life is highlighted by time spent with family and friends who always knew he would lend a helping hand. Ken loved the outdoors and shared that by pheasant hunting with his sons. Golf, camping and family gatherings were all things he enjoyed. Recent years found him at tractor pulls winning trophies for his efforts. He was always glad to see family and friends who lived nearby and those far away.

Kenneth will be missed by his children, Christopher (Sarah), Jason (Jenny Maynard), of Rochester, Minn., and William Sperry, Suanne Sperry Balch (Brandon), and grandson, Parker Balch, all of Florida; his sister, Betty Retterath (Barney); brothers, Chuck (Shirley), Leon (Teresa), Paul (Rita); sister-in-law, Joanne Hackenmiller Popp and many nieces, nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Eugene and John.
