The Hormel Institute will host its next summer open house from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday.

Attendees will learn about The Institute’s seven-decade history and its research toward the prevention and control of cancer, along with plans for its next major expansion, set to begin in 2014.

A tour of The Institute’s facility will feature a table displaying foods with natural compounds used in cancer research, a 3-D demonstration of current research and a viewing of the two IBM supercomputers accelerating discoveries.

The final open house will be Thursday, Aug. 29.
