Ed briefs: Scholarships, Dean’s list and graduations

Austin High School graduate Connor Jones, son of Jennie-O Turkey Store employee Mike Jones, was chosen to receive a $750 Jennie-O Continuing Education Scholarship.
Jennie-O, a subsidiary of Hormel Foods Corp., announced it awarded more than $60,000 in scholarships to 58 graduating high school seniors in Wisconsin and Minnesota in 2013.
The company offers two types of scholarships each year: Golden Excellence Scholarships and Continuing Education Scholarships.
Dean’s list
•Several local residents were named to the spring 2013 dean’s list at Iowa State University: Kelly Gray of Adams; Meredith Molhusen and Lauren Nelson of Austin; Molly Frank of Dexter; Zackery Canterbury and Jordan Lenway of Rose Creek.
•Preston Nibaur of Austin was named a Dimmitt Scholar at Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa.
•Benjamin Kubesh was named to the fall 2012 and spring 2013 dean’s lists at the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities Carlson School of Management.
Graduation
•Ten Austin residents graduated from Rochester Community and Technical College: Calin Blowers, carpentry; Corey Cambern, computer information systems; Laura Drees, carpentry; Susan Getzin, liberal arts and science; Jenna Helfritz, surgical technology; Erin Holtorf, medical transcriptionist; Jenalee Karlen, surgical technology; Samantha Lechner, advanced hospital nursing assistant and liberal arts and science; Nora Prom, medical transcriptionist.
