Robert Eugene Hallman Sr., 90, of Austin, Minn., died Saturday morning June 1, 2013, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home in Austin.

Bob was born May 4, 1923, in Austin to Claude Hallman and Ellen Anderson Hallman. Bob attended Austin schools and was active in athletics. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy, stationed on destroyers in the Western Pacific. After the war he returned to Austin and worked for Hormel until his retirement at age 55. He was an avid golfer and spent winters in south Texas.

Bob was preceded in death by wife Shirley (2005), daughter Janice Banks and son Gerald Hallman. He is survived by wife Bernice Hallman of Austin; sons, Robert (Carol) Hallman Jr. of Brooklyn Park, Minn., and William Hallman of the Phillipines; sister, Virginia Wilson of Austin; 11 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Robert Hallman will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Austin with Pastor Michael Olmsted presiding. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Austin. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church and on Monday evening from 5 p.m to 7 p.m. at Mayer Funeral Home in Austin.
