Florine Frances Rathmann, 86, of Cairo, Mo., died June 26, 2013.
Florine was born Oct. 28, 1926, in Homestead, Iowa, to Ernest Baack and Anna Brockshus. She attended elementary school at St. John’s Parish School and later graduated from Marengo High School in Cedar Rapids. In 1952, she married Robert Rathmann in Cedar Rapids.
Florine farmed with her husband for 25 years. She was a member of Zion Lutheran in Moberly, Mo., and an excellent cook. She loved God’s creation.
She is survived by her sons Rodney (Dawn) of St. Louis, Franklin of Cairo, Mo., Paul (Brenda) of Jefferson City; three grandsons: Robert (Abigail) of Antioch, Ill., Martin (Anna) of Indianapolis, Ind., and Samuel of Emma, Mo.; two step-granddaughters, Stacy Bandelier of Jefferson City and Nicole Dixon (Thomas) of Niagua; dear sister Alice (Heinz) Hoenecke of San Diego, Calif.; brother Dale (Connie) Baack of Homestead; and sisters-in-law Elaine Freie of Newhall, Iowa, and Karen (Jim) Watt of Henderson, Nev.; five great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, brother Rolyn, grandson Nicholas and step-granddaughter JoAnna.
A service will be held at 10 a.m. July 1, 2013, at Zion Lutheran in Moberly, with a visitation from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at Million Taylor Funeral Homes. The Rev. Dr. Ken Shurb will officiate. An interment will be held at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, Mo. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church in Moberly.
