Former Bruins forward AJ Reid will be playing Division I hockey at Air Force Academy next season.

Reid, who initially committed to Army, changed his mind and decided to go to Air Force, where he will receive a full athletic scholarship.

“They’re a more successful team (than Army),” Reid said. “ They have more experience with winning and they’ve been in the NCAA tournament. That’s somewhere you want to be a part of, because nobody likes to lose.”

Reid, a forward from Lakeville, Minn. who finished his Bruins’ career with 103 points in 97 games, will team up with former Bruin Trevor Waldoch at Air Force.

Waldoch, who had had three assists in 22 games for Air Force (17-13-7 overall) last season, told Reid that the Falcons play a similar style of hockey as the Bruins do.

Reid will look back fondly on his time in Austin as he cherishes the memory of winning the NAHL Central Division this season and being a part of two Paint the Rink Pink nights.

“Both Paint the Rink Pink nights were fun,” Reid said. “The cause was great and the whole community got involved.”

Reid said he learned a lot about hockey in his two years with the Bruins and he hopes to be ready to contribute right away at the next level.

“It’s a great place to play,” Reid said of Austin. “Coach Tok knows a lot of people and he helps push you and that makes a whole world of difference.”
