A Grand Meadow man, charged for threatening a woman, standing off with police and threatening to shoot himself, was sentenced Wednesday in Mower County Court.

Kevin Manly Spinler, 35, was sentenced to five years’ supervised probation and fined $400 for felony terroristic threats. Two more charges for terroristic threats and second-degree assault were both dismissed.

Authorities received a call about a domestic disturbance at about 2:30 a.m. Aug. 18, 2012, in Grand Meadow. When they arrived, a woman said she argued with Spinler, who threatened her and went back into the house to get a gun.

An officer saw Spinler in the basement through an egress window and said Spinler pointed a gun at him, according to the court complaint. After two hours, Spinler unloaded the gun, according to the officer, and came outside without further incident.
