Sylvia Rose Slindee, 97, of Austin, Minn., died Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at Comforcare Good Samaritan Center.
Sylvia Rose Schuett was born Nov. 30, 1915, in Iron River, Wis., to John and Anna (Griebenow) Schuett, where she also received her education. On April 4, 1936, Sylvia was united in marriage to Selmer Slindee in Minneapolis. Selmer passed away in 1992. Sylvia was an employee of Hormel Foods Corporation for more than 30 years. She enjoyed using Skype, playing computer games, knitting, crocheting, camping and fishing. In her younger years she enjoyed dancing. A favorite tradition was hosting her annual lutefisk dinner. Sylvia was a member of the Winnebago, Minn., Chapter – Winnehaha’s, the Austin Boating Club, the Moose Lodge and St. Olaf Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her three sons, Norman Slindee and Dale Slindee, both of Austin, Darwin Slindee and wife Patricia Frischer, of Cardiff by the Sea, Calif.; three grandchildren, Stephan, Sean and wife Vicki, and Scott; the grandsons’ mother Dolores Yon of Lake Worth, Fla.; five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Anna Schuett; her husband, Selmer Slindee; two sons, Ronald and Merlin; and three brothers, Paul, John, and George Schuett.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at the Comforcare Good Samaritan Center Chapel in Austin, Minn., with Chaplain Theresa Turnbull officiating. Visitation will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 17 at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin, and one hour prior to the service at Comforcare. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
