The Austin Port Authority formally hired Jon Erichson to act as project manager for the upcoming Hormel Institute expansion during a meeting Wednesday.

Erichson will be hired at $50.68 an hour, and is expected to work less than 10 hours per week on the project until it is finished, according to Jim Hurm, executive director of the port authority.

Erichson is expected to start immediately, and Hurm said he will oversee the various grants and other paperwork associated with the Institute expansion. Erichson is expected to attend meetings on the expansion next month.
