Mayday! Snow returns tonight

Welcome to the not-so-balmy month of May. The Austin area opens the month with a winter weather advisory.
Temperatures may not break the 50-degree mark before Sunday, according to the National Weather Service in La Crosse, Wis., but the recurring issue people are tired of may return tonight: snow. Meteorologists say Wednesday’s rain will mix with snow and turn to all snow after 4 a.m. Thursday. A band of snow is developing across southeast Minnesota and could continue through Thursday morning with 2 to 4 inches possible tonight and another inch or two on Thursday.
The winter weather advisory will go into effect from 10 p.m. tonight to 7 p.m. Thursday.
Even more snow may fall on Friday before switching back to rain on Friday night. The weather could shift back to more seasonal conditions on Monday with a slight chance of rain and a high near 65. Tuesday’s conditions could be similar with a slight chance of rain and a high near 68.
