Ethel Marie Christian, 84, passed away on May 30, 2013, at Crest View Villa in Hayfield, Minn.

Ethel was born on May 12, 1929, the daughter of Vern and Marie (Calkins) Kirkwood in Austin, Minn. She was united in marriage to Harry Walter Boeff on Dec. 28, 1947, at Dexter United Methodist Church. Harry passed away on April 21, 1997. They had six children: Arnold (Martha) Boeff, Laveen, Ariz.; Raymond (Joyce) Boeff, Hastings, Minn.; Larry Boeff, Guthrie, Okla.; Dale (Tracey) Boeff, Eagan, Minn.; Diane (David) Boley, Hayfield; Jerry (Robbie) Boeff, Cheyenne, Wyo. They also had many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

On July 3, 2004, she was united in marriage to Walter Leigh Christian at Dexter United Methodist Church. Walter brought into the marriage, Sharon (Robert) Hanson, Lake Elmo, Minn./Surprise, Ariz.; Larry (Karen) Christian, Blooming Prairie, Minn.; and Michael (Sherry) Christian, Denver, Colo. Ethel enjoyed bowling, playing cards, Minnesota Twins, flower gardening and visiting with family and friends. She worked at various jobs. She was a homemaker and worked at Nickerson Farms as a cook, Libby’s Canning Factory, Lake Center Industries, Arcon in Stewartville and the Mill Inn Motel in Dexter as a desk clerk.

Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Christina in 1985; husband, Harry in 1997; and a special friend, Irvin Boysen in 2003.

The funeral service for Ethel Marie Christian will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 3, 2013, at the United Methodist Church, 230 Pleasant St. in Dexter with the Rev. Karen Ashton officiating. Interment will be in Grand Meadow Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday, June 2, 2013, at Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 501 Second St. NW in Hayfield and one hour before the service at the church on Monday. The family prefers memorials to the American Cancer Society.
