Golden Age Club
The Golden Age Club started its monthly meeting April 3 by standing to say the Flag Pledge. Sally Michels made the motion, seconded by Dee Murphy, to accept the secretary and treasurer’s reports as read. Dee Murphy, chaplin, read the poem, “Eternal Love.”
April birthdays will be celebrated by Sally Michels, Karen Machacek, Del Srsen, Don Hoban finished the lunch. Cards (500) were played at 10 tables.
Austin Duplicate Bridge Club
Tournament results for April 3 with six tables played: first, Tom Flaherty and Stan Schultz; second, Dave Magee and Gus Brandt; third, Eunice Michaelis and Warren Behrends; fourth, Vandy Newman and Gene Muchow; fifth, Lu Schmitt and Loren Cleland.
Duplicate Bridge is played each Wednesday at noon at the Village Cooperative in Austin, 2301 10th St. NW, Exit 177 off I-90, two blocks north of Walmart. All Bridge players are welcome. Call Dave Ring at 507-434-4189 for partnership assistance or additional information.
Brownsdale Study Club
The Brownsdale Study Club met at the home of Ellen Johnson on March 20. The meeting was opened with the reading of the collect. The minutes of the February meeting were read and accepted. The treasurers report was given. Roll call was taken. When will all the snow be gone? Predictions ranged from April 1 to May 1. Eight members were present.
Old business: The club discussed an outing from last year. Possibly Rose Creek Restauarant, Gardening.
Announcement: April meeting with Beryl. Song: Happy Birthday to Ellen. Discussion: Ida saw five robins on March 17. Others talked about different birds being seen.
