Phyllis A. Hanson, 87, of Austin, Minn., died Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Albert Lea, Minn.

Phyllis was born on Jan. 26, 1926, in Dover, Minn., to John and Ethel (Foreman) Gardner. She attended school in Chatfield, Minn., and married Wilbur Hanson on April 24, 1948. Phyllis was a lifelong member of Austin’s Christ Episcopal Church and a member of the Austin Eagles Women’s Auxiliary.
Gardening and fishing were her passions. She also enjoyed long leisurely country drives with the occasional stop at local casinos.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur; sons, Odin and John and five brothers.
Phyllis is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Annie Hanson, Albert Lea; grandchildren, Derrick Ableman, New York City, Jillayne Raetz, New Richland, Minn.; great-grandson, Eustice Raetz; sisters-in-law, Helen Finley, Rochester, Minn.; Audrey Arens, Wichita Falls, Texas; Lola Gardner, Rochester; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2013, at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary with the Rev. Alice Applequist officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
