Businesses from Rose Creek and Adams were among the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency’s 51 enforcement cases in 36 counties during the first quarter of this year.

MPCA fined Osmundson Bros. Inc., from Adams, for $1,500 and the owners of what was formerly Woody’s in Rose Creek for $575. Both businesses were cited for solid waste violations, the same violation that comprised many of the infractions statewide.

Penalties from all 51 cases totaled more than $190,000. Twenty percent of these cases were for various air quality violations that totaled more than $51,000, as well.

Imposing monetary penalties is only part of the MPCA’s enforcement process. Agency staff continue to provide assistance, support and information on the steps and tools necessary to achieve compliance for any company or local government that requests it.
