As parts of Minnesota caught the worst of Wednesday’s ice storm, Austin seemed to dodge the brunt of it receiving mostly snow.
The storm laid down heavy amounts of ice in southwestern Minnesota causing mass power outages that could go on for a couple days still. As of around 7:30 a.m. only heavy, wet snow fell around Austin. A small bit of rain fell overnight with some ice collecting but by dawn it was gone.
The National Weather Service is predicting a rain and snow mix throughout the day today, becoming all snow after 8 p.m. Temperatures are expected to hover around 35 degrees with a low of 28 tonight.
